Our Drivers License and Cloud Projects

The two main projects we have going on in our room are DRIVERS LICENSES and CLOUDS.

We have been working hard on drawing our selves and learning our personal information for the license. We are anxious to see where the children take us next in this subject!

Take a look at some of our work in progress...........

To help us answer some of our questions we have about clouds, we have checked out the following book:
The Kids' Book of Clouds and Sky, written and photographed by Frank Staub

We did an experiment in class to make a cloud. We had a lot of fun and we were so excited when we noticed the water forming the condensation! Let's see where our little scientists take us with this project!

Driving in America

We never get tired of race cars, but this time we are learning about........what we need to DRIVE in America!

We started looking at our teachers' drivers licenses and noticing what information is on them........

First we started drawing pictures of ourselves.....................

Then we started to write our names and addresses.................

We spent a lot of time practicing sounding out our words on our licenses to help us with our reading skills. Our handwriting is getting better and better with all of the practice we are doing!
Now that we have our "licenses" some of us think we are really ready to drive! ;0)

Getting Back on Track!

Since the new year has started, we have been getting back into the routine of things in class! The children have shown an interest in butterflies so we have started observing them! So far they have been very interested in their wings and the various patterns that each butterfly has. We have all learned that no two butterflies are they same, every butterfly is different! We have even started making our own butterflies in class out of Popsicle sticks and paper! Also, the class has continued their interest in dinosaurs. We have a box full of dinosaur figures and we have been finding each dinosaur in a book and learning about their height and the type of food they eat.

We all look forward to a great year of learning and discovery!
