Little Wonders is a wonderful learning center located right here in Missouri City. This is where talent, imagination and professional skills are being dedicated to the teaching of our young children. We understand that children learn differently. Through observation and listening, we encourage each individual's unique learning styles; while focusing on their physical, educational and emotional needs. All of our teachers are professionally qualified with combined expertise in education, speech & hearing therapy, bilingual education and English as a Second Language. With a low student-teacher ratio, we provide your child with the attention they need. Little Wonders Learning Center is located at the corner of Lexington Blvd. and Dulles Ave. In this center, you will find a number of warm, loving teachers committed to putting children first. This isn't your ordinary day care facility.

Skeletons

Kiersten made the skeleton of the human body.......... From there, we started looking at different skeletons of animals in books. Ashley made this monkey skeleton.........
Kiersten made the skeleton of a lion. As we worked on this skeleton, we did a study of different cats. The children did not think that lions and tigers were cats, so we looked at books to show us all of the types of cats. We read about them, wrote words about them, and talked about their habitats and similarities.

Next the children wanted to make bat skeletons. Ella and Kiersten made these skeletons. We are now learning about flying animals. It has turned us in the direction of learning about birds. We have drawn bird skeletons, made a tree with a bird's nest in the class, and made beautiful paintings of peacocks and parrots!

Some of this project is located in the hallway on display, stay tuned to see more of our work!

Our African Village

So much has gone on with our African Water Project! We now understand the concept of a water well, how water is cleaned through the layers of the Earth, and how to get clean water from a well. We did a science project in class to clean pond water through a sand filter, and we have done so much art, reading and writing to show all that we have learned. All of our work will be on display in the hallway!

As we have been reading books and learning about the African culture, we have really fallen in love with the colorful clothing and the jewelry that they wear! Look at our "African people" that we have made for our village!

We have been studying the houses and we see that they use hay, mud and sticks to make the houses.
We are making our own "African houses" and learning our shapes at the same time! It took us a couple of days, but we finally made a CONE shaped roof for this house.
After we made our first house, we noticed that some African mud houses are made with bricks. Trevor told us that the cement trucks come and have a "thing" to make bricks. We asked the children if these African villages look like they have cement trucks, and the answer was, "No!". So what do the people in Africa use to make their bricks?
"MUD!!!"
So we are using clay to form our bricks for our next African mud house!

We are making RECTANGLES out of the clay! After we were done, we lined up our bricks and counted how many we made. We drew the number of rectangles and wrote the number that we had. This was great practice for us!

Look at all of our "African Mud House Bricks"! Stay tuned to see the progress on our African Village!
