Little Wonders is a wonderful learning center located right here in Missouri City. This is where talent, imagination and professional skills are being dedicated to the teaching of our young children. We understand that children learn differently. Through observation and listening, we encourage each individual's unique learning styles; while focusing on their physical, educational and emotional needs. All of our teachers are professionally qualified with combined expertise in education, speech & hearing therapy, bilingual education and English as a Second Language. With a low student-teacher ratio, we provide your child with the attention they need. Little Wonders Learning Center is located at the corner of Lexington Blvd. and Dulles Ave. In this center, you will find a number of warm, loving teachers committed to putting children first. This isn't your ordinary day care facility.

The Bug Project

We were outside the other day and Ms. Fauzia found a "torture beetle" aka Cicada Bug.  Ricky told everyone that it was a Torture Beetle and it eats grass.
Kaelynn came along and told everyone that it really was a Cicada.  She had everyone convinced except Ricky!  He was set on it being a Torture Beetle!
The children had fun following it, flipping it over, and throwing grass on it so it could eat!  We have started doing more photography with the children, so we passed the camera along to them and these are some of the shots they took........

The Cicada had trouble climbing the building, it kept falling off.
Everyone thought he might be able to climb better on the tree, so we brought it over to the tree and let it climb.  It fell again, and Noah started crying because he thought the Cicada was going to die!
He ran over to the fence and sat down to cry, when Ricky came to console him.  He assured Noah that the Cicada didn't die, and they were going to be nice to it!

Noah got up and went back with the group and we are happy to say that the Cicada survived the afternoon with our children! ;0)

This has sparked a BIG bug project in our class.  We are reading, drawing and making books about bugs.  Our library is growing!  Please take a few minutes to read some of the childrens' books in the check in area.

The children are also starting to do more research on the computer to find out more about the bugs.  One parent suggested the show Monster Bug Wars.  For those of you who have the channel, it comes on Tuesdays at 8 on the Science Channel

For more information on the show click on the following link

Feel free to ask the teachers to see our progress on the bug project in the classroom!
