Little Wonders is a wonderful learning center located right here in Missouri City. This is where talent, imagination and professional skills are being dedicated to the teaching of our young children. We understand that children learn differently. Through observation and listening, we encourage each individual's unique learning styles; while focusing on their physical, educational and emotional needs. All of our teachers are professionally qualified with combined expertise in education, speech & hearing therapy, bilingual education and English as a Second Language. With a low student-teacher ratio, we provide your child with the attention they need. Little Wonders Learning Center is located at the corner of Lexington Blvd. and Dulles Ave. In this center, you will find a number of warm, loving teachers committed to putting children first. This isn't your ordinary day care facility.

Fall, Costumes, Pumpkins & More!

We have been working on many different fall activities!   We are spending time on 3 major projects during the day: Costumes, Fall Crops, and Skeletons!

The children haven't wasted any time getting started with their costumes...

We talk about the steps needed to create the costumes: drawing and planning what we will be, measuring our sizes, and creating the costume.  This child wanted to decorate his fabric before he measured and cut.  He had his classmate help him design and decorate his fabric so once we measure it  he will have all  the things on their he needs...

Bishop brought in a big pumpkin he got over the weekend! He wanted to paint soccer balls on it since he has really been interested in it and playing it outside everyday with Ms.Jojo :o) He also let his friends join in and help...

"Snow White" was creating just the write colors for her snow white outfit. She made the bottom of the dress yellow, the middle part red and the sleeves blue and red! Next on her list is drawing and creating her crown, where she will count and write how many different colors of jeweled pieces she will need to make it.  She drew the crown, drew the colors of jewels she wants, and now we are counting out that number of jewels to make her real crown look just like the picture.

This tiger wanted to make a partial mask that covered his eye area, so he and Ms. Ambreen got to work! She helped him feel where his eyeballs were and drew around it..

One of our children was inspired by Play and Book, "Diary Of  A Worm".  After seeing the play in Main Street Theater, he wanted a costume like the man wore in the play.  Of course he is putting his own spin on it!  He wants every color of the rainbow in his costume!  So he drew out a very detailed picture of what he would like for it to look like..

Our Purple and White Pumpkin with Soccer Balls!

We are still revisiting our frog project!  And since we are experts on the frog anatomy, we wanted to make a "spooky frog skeleton" for the Fall Festival.
We found a picture of a frog skeleton and first drew it in pencil and then began going over it very carefully with white paint..

Back to the worm costume......
Once the plan and picture was finished..he started cut out all his strips for the worm stripes...

We are learning about all of the fall crops.  The favorite around here is the PUMPKIN!  We love the variety of sizes, shapes and colors of pumpkins.  We have started to read books to see how they grow...

We started making a pumpkin patch...

We started by making the green vines first..

Than we added our Pumpkins on!!

All of our fall masterpieces will be on display at the Fall Festival.  Details about the festival are posted outside of your child's classroom.
Feel free to see the progression of your child's costume, and we would love any input or materials to help with our fall projects!

Preparations For The Fall Festival!

The time has arrived again for the FALL FESTIVAL! We have began preparing for it and getting our special costumes ready! The above picture is all the different things Bishop has brought in to make his Blue Ranger costume! If you haven't already brought in your child's fabric and materials for their costume please bring it in as soon as you can, the children are ready to start creating their very own outfits! ;o)

The children have began by drawing an image of a character, animal etc. that they would like to be. They are drawing their picture in full detail using all the colors they want in it. They are also creating things like lasers, belts, capes and masks on their pictures. After they are done with the picture, we are writing about our pictures underneath and their measurements!

Hendrix is going to be a black ninja with a green sword, belt and shoes.

Kylie is going to be a princess using the colors red, purple and pink.

These are just a few of the pictures the students have created. If you haven't had a chance to see your child's drawing to see what colors and things they would like to use to create their costume. Please feel free to come in and ask Ms.Ambreen or Ms.Jojo!

Bishop has started off by measuring his waist all the way around to see how long his belt will be. He showed us how wide he would like to make his belt. After he decided that he began cutting out his two belts he wanted! This is a little bit of a preview of how the costumes are being started.
The students can't wait to show everyone how their costumes will turn out! This is an exciting month! :o)

Gardening For The Fall!

We have began planting new things in the garden for the fall season! The children were all hard at work with pulling out dead plants, adding to the compost and turning our soil! Our favorite part was shoveling out dirt  and making new holes for our seeds and plants! :o)

We helped our frog family in the garden by taking them out of their home and temporarily keeping them in the bucket until the garden was redone for them to return to!!
We loved observing the frogs to make sure they were okay and didn't try to jump too high and escape! ;-)

We released 1/2 pint of ladybugs!  This was really exciting! Their were ladybugs everywhere you turned..they even landed all over us!
Looking for all the ladybugs everywhere...

So since we have replanted  the garden along with journaling every morning in our classroom we have began a gardening journal in the afternoon. We visit the garden outside everyday to see if any changes have came or seeds are starting to sprout. Than we make a record of it in our journal!

We start by talking about what day in the week it is, and sounding out the letters to the day so we can start remembering to spell it on our own! The children trace over it first to get a little practice in and then continue on to writing it themselves. The students have been practicing really hard and are learning to write in the lines! They are doing an awesome job and perfecting this task very fast! :-)

On the opposite side of the page is where they are recording the progress of the garden, after drawing what they see is growing out there, we write what day it has been so we know how much has grown within a time period!
Check out some of the great work!
